SWPACC Expands Climbing Opportunities In Mt. Pleasant, PA
Trailbuilding day set for July 18th – SEE BELOW FOR MORE.
This spring, a tremendous SWPACC volunteer effort (over 289 hours logged) has brought us a new roped climbing area at the Laurelville Retreat Center (LRC) in Mt. Pleasant, PA. With formal permission from LRC, over 25 climbs have been established, with potential for more. This is in addition to the hundreds of boulder problems on the property, which were developed over the last few decades.
A huge shout out to Tom Thomas and Ray Tuttle for leading the effort to establish the roped climbs, and to the other dedicated volunteers:
- Mariann Mondik
- Bob Dodson
- Camilla Hendrych
- Jamie Billings
- Tom Brooks
- Jeff Baxter
- Mackenzie Baxter
- Andrew Benedicktus
- Rich Lamp
- Ginette Walker Vinski
- Valerie Kramer
Over the next several weeks, we will be updating Mountain Project with more information on both roped climbing and bouldering.
We’re grateful for the partnership with the Laurelville Retreat Center, and hope our community will enjoy this enhanced opportunity for climbing outdoors – just an hour east of downtown Pittsburgh. Stay tuned for more information!
