Rock The Quarry – Call For Climbers!

Published by admin on

Hello, SWPACC Community!

We need your help to represent our community at this year’s Rock The Quarry, an event that brings folks together with music, food, and memories at the beautiful quarry along the Panhandle Trail. This is a unique opportunity to demonstrate rock climbing to the public and help us advance SWPACC’s mission.

We are looking for volunteers to assist with two important tasks:

  • Demonstrate Climbing: Show event-goers what climbing is all about by climbing some routes that have been established at the quarry.
  • Table & Educate: Staff a table to talk about SWPACC’s mission and our ongoing work with the Collier Friends of the Panhandle Trail.

Event Details:

  • Event: Rock The Quarry
  • Dates: Friday, August 28th and Saturday, August 29th, 2026
  • Hours: Friday (5 PM – 10 PM) & Saturday (3 PM – 10 PM)
  • Location: Panhandle Trail, Collier, PA | 38 Walkers Mill Road, Carnegie, PA 15106

We are looking for a minimum of FIVE volunteers to be present at all times to cover both the climbing demonstrations and the table. Climbers must be 21 years or older. If you can only make it for a few hours, that’s still very helpful!

Important Notes:

  • Volunteers must be safety-oriented and comfortable demonstrating climbing to a public audience.
  • Helmets are required, and you must bring your own personal climbing gear.
  • The grades of the sport and trad routes range from 5.7 to 5.10+. Top rope setup is available, but all routes must be led from the ground up.

If you are interested in volunteering, please email Meredith Soeder at meredith.soeder@gmail.com with your availability. Please also consider asking your climbing friends to get involved!

Thank you for helping us grow our climbing community!
